About
A Carrot Tail is a feature on a Leopard Gecko which appears in the tail. To have a Carrot Tail, at least 30% of the Leopard Gecko’s tail from the base, must be covered in orange. The Carrot Tail is a Line Bred trait: in order to create geckos with more carroting than previous generations, they must be bred to geckos with lots of carroting. [1]
History
A line developed in the United Kingdom characterized by tails at least 30% orange. Carrot-tails are usually described and priced by the percentage of orange on their tails. Top of the line animals have tails that are 90% or more orange. This trait can be expressed in most morphs. [2]
The Carrot Tail trait has been popping up in many different morphs. It seems to be the most popular is Albey’s Tangerine Line and in the RAPTORs. They are also in Murphy Patternless, all of the Tangerine and Hypo morphs, all three albino strains, and are now showing a little bit in the Blizzards. [3]

Tail
While spotting of orange on the tail can be common in Normal Leopard Geckos, Carrot Tails have a band around the beginning of the tail. In some cases this can be a few tail bands, while in others it can nearly cover the entire tail.
