    History

(Unsure of how it was brought into USA, assumed VPI imported a Flower animal.) The heterozygous form (hatched 2010) was bred together to make additional Flowers in 2018.

    Body

In the het Flower (Pollen) there appears to be a significant increase in red color (unknown if this is due to the gene expression or simply quality lines presently). An increase in dorsal striping is often present, with a wavy pattern which may be broken into blotches along the spine that may “leak” downward into the side pattern. Occasionally there are small dots on the spine.

The homozygous form is also characteristically red, with a full wide stripe along the spine with dots of red and black within the stripe. The stripe is typically unbroken all the way towards the tail, with it becoming more busy towards the head and neck. [1]

Some of the traits that help us ID Pollens are varying degrees of dorsal striping, separation between the lateral markings; lateral markings look like they are reaching up and trying to touch the dorsal pattern. [2]
