About
My name is Jillian Samul and I believe in producing animals which are healthy; thriving in both body and mind.
I officially started Serpentine Designs in 2018, as my fascination with my reptiles and invertebrates blossomed out of the hobby realm and into the need for a dedicated facility.
All of my breeding reptiles and their babies enjoy living in an enriched, meaningful way, as beloved pets and as cherished companions. We use uv lighting, bioactive enclosures, interactive handling, and the adults engage in behavior training sessions. They each, adults and offspring, get to enjoy time outside in screened pens as well as have supervised "play time" on their various enrichment stations. Every animal produced is kept exceptionally well, in a safe, clean environment. They get regularly handled, eat frozen-thawed, and are treated with the utmost respect as a living creature with a unique personality.
By creating a superior foundation for the lives of these animals, we allow for their highest potentials to emerge, as socially interactive, interesting pets and long-lived family members. We believe that, even as "breeders" performing a function, they should have a life worth living.
At Serpentine Designs, we feed only with Perfect Prey, Reptilinks, wild caught frozen fishes, and our own humanely raised and euthanized feeders. All of the animals sold are well-started, ready to leave the facility and are guaranteed to readily eat frozen thawed.
I started hobby-level breeding in 2016, of colubrids, pythons, isopods and roaches. I am a Silver Tier Member of USARK and am USDA licensed for many species of isopods. I currently work with twelve different species of snakes, including some rare species of Mexican garters. I have sold at local reptile expos and currently sell some of my isopods on Ebay.
Serpentine Designs is located in Kalamazoo, MI. In the past, I have enjoyed doing local educational, interactive engagements with my reptiles and invertebrates: showcasing how amazing they are and spreading the good word...I hope to do more of this as covid chills out.
Currently, Serpentine Designs is staffed by just me, with a few sporadic helpers. As such, sometimes I need a solid business day to respond to all inquiries.
I ship the snakes Monday-Wednesday, weather permitting, with SYR or FedEx. The invertebrates can be shipped Mon-Sat with USPS Priority Mail, also weather permitting. I do not ship invertebrates during Nov, Dec or Jan, unless you want them overnighted. You can make arrangements to pick up from me in Kalamazoo, and I am sometimes available for deliveries to a show or expo.

Payment plans are accepted if the cost is above $500: a 25%non-refundable deposit is required to hold the animal, full payment must be made within 60 days of the hold.
Shipping is available through Ship Your Reptiles/ FedEx and will be quoted to you prior to purchase. (It is usually about $55-$85).
