About
A hobby breeder and collector of western hognose snakes. I've always had a curiosity towards reptiles and amphibians, and my attraction to these animals was developed during my childhood in Pennsylvania. While I had many short-term (wild caught) pets growing up, it wasn't until I was at University that I became aware of the Western Hognose. I purchased my first hognose in 2003 from a small pet store in Shippensburg, PA. I ended up working part time at that pet store (for free), just so I could spend time around all of the snakes he had. At that time, the Western Hognose trade was in its infancy, and I felt lucky to have acquired a "Red Phase". During that timeframe, I was also introduced to the variable kingsnake (another lovely and frustrating species) and the Dumeril's Boa. My love for these other species continues today, but my focus remains with the Western Hognose. Over time, like many, I have gotten in and out of the hobby for various reasons (mostly due to relocating), but I always seem to return. Now that I have a son that is interested in the hobby, I feel like I'm here to stay, at least for a while ;). I hope to share my love of hognose with anyone that cares to listen and look forward to being able to share my collection with all you for many years to come!
Store Policy
Deposits
I require a 25% deposit to hold any animal(s). ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE! Do not send a deposit if you do not fully intend to buy the animal.
Payment Plans
Payment plans will be made available on a case by case basis. Once a payment plan has been established and a deposit made the animal will be taken off the market and will be considered sold. Animals will be fed and maintained as usual at no charge to the customer. If for whatever reason the customer cannot complete the payment plan as agreed all monies will be refunded except the 25% deposit. Most payment plans must be paid in full within 30 days, but 60- and 90-day plans may be available.
Shipping
All animals will be shipped by FedEx (only) overnight express at a mutually agreed upon time, place and date, weather permitting. You will be contacted the day I ship to confirm you are available to receive the following day. All animals will be shipped to your nearest fedex authorized ship center. I guarantee live arrival and the customer must call or email within 2 hours of receiving the package to assure that the package has arrived on time and alive. Temperatures will be discussed before shipping; no guarantee will be given if shipped when temperatures (anywhere along the route) are below 40 degrees or above 90 degrees.
Animal Guarantee
I guarantee all animals to arrive correctly sexed and in good health. I must be notified within 24 hours if for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase so that a replacement, or credit for future offspring can be arranged. Shipping is non-refundable. Return shipping is on you and credit/or exchange will not be granted until the snake arrives back in my care.
I cannot control and am therefore not responsible for any environmental conditions that may affect the eating habits or health of your animal after it has been in your care for more than 48 hours. I breed and sell Western Hognose snakes. This species can be extremely finicky when it comes time to eat. I do not sell (without disclaimer) a snake that is not well established and eating frozen/thawed mice. I will provide a date of last meal and how it was taken (drop fed or from tongs). I will work with you to adjust your setup and troubleshoot why a hognose may not be eating (and believe me, it will happen). I will even provide help if you didn't purchase the hognose from me! Please do not leave negative feedback because YOU or your buddy, can't get a snake to eat. I have not tried to pull the wool over your eyes. I don't sell garbage and I don't expect to receive garbage feedback. I care very much for my snakes and expect the same out of you. Please don't purchase from me if you don't understand the basic needs for this species! Hognose snakes are not good snakes for beginners. They are not good snakes for someone that doesn't have patience. They are not good snakes for someone that can't follow direction or accept that other people my have more experience with the species. They are not good snakes for most people, but they are cool :)
Live Arrival Guarantee
I guarantee live arrival unless temperatures at any stop en-route to the destination are below 40 degrees or above 90 degrees. If you request delivery to an address other than an a fedex ship center, you must be there to sign for the package on the FIRST delivery attempt or my live arrival guarantee will be void. I am not responsible for any carrier delays, mishaps or mistakes. Should there be a problem with the shipment (animals arrive DOA) all animals must be returned and I will reimburse the cost of the animal. Shipping is non-refundable.
Laws
It is your responsibility to know your local, state and/or federal laws. No hognose snakes will be sold or shipped to the state of Colorado. Illinois customers must have a state permit.
By purchasing an animal you agree to all the above terms. If you don't agree to the terms or don't understand the terms, please purchase your hognose from another breeder.
