Hi there! Welcome to Southern Scales Exotics! My name is Laura, I’m a happily married Christian woman with 5 grown kids, one grandson, a white German Shephard, 4 cats, 2 horses, a houseful of snakes, and a shed full of rodents. I strive to breed quality and colorful pythons and dwarf boas. By keeping my operation small I get to know each animal and am able to give them more individualized care, which makes for a healthier snake, a better pet or breeder, and I am able to help you pick the snake that best fits what you're looking for.
I've always loved snakes. When I was a kid I used to catch garter and corn snakes in the yard and hold on to them, watching them move through my fingers for a while before letting them go. I bought my first ball python in 2011, a young male lesser platinum. I didn’t decide to get into breeding until 2019, when my daughter-in-law's interest and knowledge in ball pythons opened my eyes to the endless possibilities. I became obsessed, started researching, talking to other breeders, applying what I learned, and continue to do so.
I am eternally grateful for the love, support, patience, and endless hours of work my husband, Tim, has dedicated to helping me clean and feed the snakes and rodents, and keep this business going and growing.

Store Policy
NOTICE:
Failure to read and/or understand my Store Policy in its entirety does not excuse a buyer from these policies. If you have any questions about my animals or Store Policy, please ask me. I am happy to explain!
STORE POLICY:
I guarantee live arrival of my animals and a 24 hour wellness assurance. They will be free from showing any physical signs of illness and properly sexed. I advise videoing the box opening of your new snake, and if there are any issues to contact me immediately. I am unable to place a longer term guarantee on my animals because I have no way of controlling the husbandry practices of others.
GENETICS:
I do my absolute best to genetically ID my animals through my experience, research, and the help of other experienced breeders. I will never intentionally mislead anyone regarding the genetics or origins of my animals. However, gene stacked animals are getting harder and harder to ID and I cannot guarantee 100% accuracy of Incomplete Dominant genes. Recessive and Heterozygous genetics are 100% guaranteed. I am happy to share images of the snakes involved in all of my pairings and hope this will help reduce any concerns.
SEX:
Proper sex of all animals purchased through me are guaranteed. Please double check, as I am human and mistakes are possible. Please contact me within 3 days and I’ll work through finding a solution if a problem arises.
SHIPPING:
The live arrival and 24 hour wellness assurance is guaranteed only for hub to hub shipments. I ship my animals priority overnight on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to the buyer’s nearest Fed-Ex Ship Center where they will be held for pickup. If the buyer fails to obtain the animal within 8 hours of hub delivery, my live arrival and 24 hour health guarantee is void. Temperatures at both ends must go no lower than 40F, and no higher than 90F. I am not responsible for carrier delays. FREE LOCAL PICKUP is available year round.
PAYMENT:
Preferred payment methods accepted are cash, Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, or PayPal Friends & Family. Group discounts available. All prices are for individual animals and includes shipping unless otherwise specified.
PAYMENT PLANS:
Payment plans are offered on a case-by-case basis. Typical arrangements start with a 25% non-refundable deposit and extend 30-90 days, depending on the value of the animal. Please inquire about a plan specific to the animal of interest.
SALES POLICY:
All deposits, AKA “inconvenience fees,” are 25% of the total cost of the animal/s, and are non-refundable. A buyer's failure to complete their payment plan within the agreed time frame will result in the forfeit of their hold on the animal(s) and any payments made over the 25% non-refundable deposit will be returned in the same manner in which it was paid. Regardless if a buyer pays in part or in full, if they cancel their order for any reason then all payments received OVER the 25% deposit, AKA “inconvenience fee,” will be returned in the same manner in which it was paid. I will gladly extend store credit toward another animal I have for sale or future offspring.
The health, well being, and success of my animals is my #1 priority. I want to provide the best possible experience for both the buyer and my animals.
