About
Hello from The Sassy Snakes! We're a start-up snake breeder focusing on a few species of snakes, including California Kingsnakes. Our goal is to ensure that our snakes have the best possible chances to thrive in captivity, taking into consideration each individual's needs and behavior, and that their offspring can find good homes to continue to thrive in. Snakes can make fantastic pets, and we want to spread our joy of snakes with you!
All snakes that have arrived with us are captive bred and have a minimum enclosure size that has two sides that is at least the length of the individual snake and given enrichment including decorations and hides. Our snakes also participate in regular target training during feeding times to provide enrichment as well as to appropriately associate feeding time with target training. In addition, we work with our local veterinarian to ensure that our husbandry meets the standards of the species required to thrive in captivity, which includes an annual heard immunity visit.
Hatchlings are raised in a hatching rack with hides and enrichment, and with regular exposure to us in order to become accustomed to human interaction. Any hatchlings that do not find homes before they start to outgrow their hatchling tub will get put into a new enclosure to accommodate their needs.
We make sure that we are following all local and state laws that are applicable to us, including registered with the CA Department of Fish and Wildlife for a Native Reptile Captive Propagation (Breeding) Permit.

Refund:
Any snakes that are purchased with the intention of resale without explicit permission will face legal action.
Our priority is the health and safety of our snakes. If you are no longer able to provide a good home for the snake(s), we will work with you to return the snake(s) to us. You are welcome to reach out to us at anytime, and we encourage you to keep in contact with us!
We will cover the cost of return shipping and provide shipping labels to use.
All animal refunds requests will be subject to a minimum 15% rehoming and restocking fee and subject to the current condition of the animal. Any illnesses or injuries that are present on arrival of the snake will be taken into consideration, as well as any required vet visits. If any medical costs exceed the original selling price, we will not issue a refund.
If you are returning the snake due to medical attention that is needed and you are experiencing financial hardship, we will cover the medical expenses with documentational support of financial hardship. This can include a notarized letter indicating financial hardship, which should be included with the returned animal.
Refunds will be distributed one week after the animal's arrival to ensure live arrival and health of the animal. Any illnesses or injuries that are discovered one week after the returned arrival that are not obviously the result of time spent with the buyer, such as injuries sustained during shipping to or from the buyer, the buyer is not subject to additional medical expenses.
Legal action will be perused if the snake has sustained any illness or injury as the result intentional actions by the buyer. This can including neglect of the snake or exposing the snake to unsafe conditions, such as not taking proper quarantine measures around other animals, inappropriate enclosure environment, or injuries or illnesses sustained from the result of feeding live prey, or contaminated food items.
Any returned snakes will go into a 3 month quarantine before being considered for resale.

Resales:
If you are interested in having any of our available snakes at your store or convention, please reach out to us for wholesale pricing consideration.
It will be the buyers responsibility to consider all local and state laws regarding the wholesale acquisition of snakes for purpose of resale.
We request that any resales are marked at the agreed upon pricing based and clearly indicate that we are the breeder of the snake.
