    About South Mountain Reptiles

SMR (Don) has 40+ years of experience breeding snakes.
He is personally responsible for discovering the Palmetto Cornsnake, (dominant to wild-type) Pied-Sided Cornsnake (recessive to wild-type) and the Tessera (dominant to wild-type).
Don attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he majored in biology – with an emphasis in herpetology.
He was particularly honored to have worked under the late Ron Blakely in the herpetarium at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas, in the late 1970s.

Don started SMR In 1999 after he sold his reptile pet shop in Wichita and moved to Texas.
