    History

Farb Koepys - 2018: "On July 3rd, 2006 I acquired the original animal, which I had discovered in the animal stock list of M&S Reptilien. There it was listed as “dark granite”, with the addition “certainly interesting for breeding”. At that time other morphs were still almost unaffordable and so this animal seemed to me to be a bargain for just under 1000 euros.

The bill didn’t say “dark granite” but “Granite Mojave”. The appearance then has nothing to do with that of a Mojave. In 2008/2009 my Granit Mojave was ready for me to breed them for the first time. Although pastel and a dark animal can’t really be considered a mega solution, I went with a pastel male. Unfortunately I didn’t have anything much better available at the time. The result was not very spectacular. Three pastels and three normal. On closer inspection, however, there was a small difference. The “normal” ones were clearly darker than normal ones, the heads almost black. Basically, the animals lack the color yellow, making them look almost like Axanthic’s. Unfortunately, they were all men. I then parted with one of them, the Pastels too. The two boys then developed more poorly than well. Especially the prettier of the two is not a good eater. Preferably multi-teat or colored mice. In 2010 I left the female alone, unfortunately I don’t remember why. In 2011 she laid eight eggs from my Yellow Belly. Four yellow bellies and four normal ones hatched from these. Since Yellow Belly has the image of bringing hidden things to light, I was disappointed and gave them all away. Today I think that LC Black Magic is not so easily recognizable.

But somehow the hope for luck as a breeder must always have been there. Because I raised the two boys and mated them to their mother (may you forgive me) in early 2012. And when the seven eggs finally lay on June 6th, 2012, we also spoke about these hopes on our homepage. Now that (Mojave) was on my mind again. Maybe yes, if everything fits, whether gray or white. Or none, as in 2011.

On 3.8. it was then time, the first three appeared as normal. My mood dropped. The disappointment was huge, of course, and then number four. The first to see the white nostrils, later the white lower jaw and otherwise black. You can see the rest in the photos. One of the three “normal” animals turned out to be an LC Black Magic female, as you can see on the photos. I think the drawing is reminiscent of Super Mystic or Super Phantom. LC Black Magic is very similar to chocolate (John R. Berry “Designer-Morphs”) page 64 Figure 109. Super - chocolate is different from LC Black Magic- Super. LC Black Magic Super is jet black with a perfect solid yellow back stripe. One has a few breaks in the front of the strip, but is the only one who has eaten twice to date (09/03/12). I don’t know that from my other Köpys. So it must have come from the mother, because apart from the Pastel clutch of 2010, the Yellow Belly clutch of 2011 also started eating late. But I never had to help. After a few weeks they all eventually started to eat.

This year I will do the pairing again. Later, the Super will be paired with Phantom, Mojave, Pinstripe, etc. I think this will be very interesting. And so that it doesn’t get boring, I’ll take care of my other Odd projects a little better in the meantime. By the way. I’ve given away a few 100% Het’s, Orange and LC Siblings as “regular”. Who knows what’s slumbering in your animals." [1]
