VanHerps was started from taking my little girl to the pet store to buy her a fish. She saw the snakes and thought they were cool.I work outside and have been keen of reptiles most of my life, so I decided to catch some garter snakes and show them to her. Thinking she would be scared I opened the container with about 4 garter snakes.Before I could warn her of them not being domesticated and possibly biting, she reached in and grabbed the biggest one. It latched onto her thumb and she just smiled. We started rescuing reptiles in need. Then we rescued our first ball python and about a decade later, ball pythons for the most part is all we do now.
